Good afternoon to everyone from the Tropics – 2013 has done some more moon and sun movements and is now approaching MARCH….so time for me to keep the log and the blog going…and what a month it has been! Found myself in those classical ‘we will all laugh about it much later, for sure!?’ situations on another recent trip over to my Ideal Husbands and those Javanese gentlemen involved…
By now I am very familiar with certain vanishing acts directly related to shoes, cobblers and the not-yet-visited island of Java. While I am very partial to a good mystery, this specific one has had me around the bend quite some times…months and months and months of working on a specific look and feel, seconds (!) before getting it finally right….POOF! The much cherished cobbler has left the premises in order to join his family. Very much understandable (after all, I cannot imagine NOT having Bruno around on a regular and rather hairy basis), but somehow INCREDIBLY frustrating – to put it mildly and without using expletives….after having experienced that one TWICE, I cottoned on and decided to branch out…so now I have tripled my efforts (and potential traffic disasters) by working with at least three different talented people at any time…needless to say the logistics have become JUST A TAD more complex, and overall the exhaustion levels have increased…(instead of going down by now…what an idealistic idea that was!!!) – but that is life and work in Asia. Also, I have COMPLETELY stopped to use the rather useless word WHY? in that context…in ANY context over there, actually. Can we all have a minute of respectful silence for this German – imagine the TRAUMA of adapting with my kind of background….the mind boggles, and is still vibrating as I write….
Strangely, whenever I feel like I ALMOST reached my very own vanishing point, some place finds me and somehow blindfolds me into believing that ‘all will be alright, SERIOUSLY…’ – hilarious, but very very helpful….so taking a deep breath (preferable not too close to some open sewerage), focusing on my heartwarming oh-so-subtle ANIMAL PRINT tablet cover (no brand names here apart from those SHOES….) and envisioning a simply purr-fect pair of Ideal Husbands….throw in a Mango Lassi (that seems to be a fabulous band-aid for the wounded soul, people!) and maybe a cat to watch for a while…and off I am, back in the saddle for more LIFE EXPERIENCE….
This woman should have her very own section in this blog…as she must be one of the most professional ones I have encountered since entering the mad circus called “My own business”….she has helped me printing a variety of very much-needed shoe related THINGS…such as business cards, wrapping paper, little box stickers…and of course, those magical shoe boxes…the day I saw her and we discussed colours and colours and even more colours, I left in the early afternoon with the understanding of confirming the final decision…as I needed to check in with Mr Honeyface, graphic and web designer extraordinaire…left a message the next morning…thought it a bit odd that she did not immediately reply…as she usually does…THEN got this phone call: “hello, very sorry for delay, I had to go to hospital and have my baby, but I already checked your email and we will proceed with your order…very sorry again…yes, baby 6 weeks early….yes, very healthy, me just a bit tired now….”. Her baby is going well, his name is ANSELMO (but called Elmo) and I am still gobsmacked. Needless to say, instead of total chaos and everything falling apart, the boxes were printed, and I could take six of them home to be used in the photo shoot we just had this Saturday…this is May ONE WEEK after having Elmo making sure I get my boxes…
So DESPITE of the Javanese escapism, slightly over-the-top traffic conditions AND Elmo arriving amongst my boxes…we’ll got it sussed for the photo shoot…have a look at that one….
I will end this blog with a word of PRAISE for all the people involved in the shoot…and please note, those photos have not been edited yet…but with the permission of one darn good photographer Fiona Morrison we can have a sneak peak…then there is Angi Barker from Faces Artistry!
And those models…Emily, Louise and Seny…all the nice men and their great vintage cars and motorbikes at the Qantas hangar….will dedicate more space in my next blog, as RIGHT NOW I have to go and get rid off that goo in my hair….hair treatment….can I please have hair like Emily????
