And includes a heavily bruised toe courtesy of a now rather fetching yellow HEAVY DUTY metal trolley. Which used to be BEIGE. You know, that NON-Colour. The absolutely non-acceptable colour. The by all means not even to be mentioned colour…THAT COLOUR.

So really, being a bit wobbly and in pain for the odd time (and most likely down the track experiencing the re-birth of a formerly loved nail…) does not seem too much of a price to pay considering the result…a cheerful, friendly and definitely YELLOW trolley ready to be burdened by an equally delightful array of fabulous books on shoes, fashion, costume, shoes and even more shoes.

Then there is the newly assembled INCREDIBLY YELLOW couch cover – even when being bunched up under the busy needle of the sewing machine, I could hear the exited whispers from the insect community … buzzing with news of a soft additional landing spot which might – just might!? – provide some honey as well. Throw in those LEMON YELLOW cushions – and we are looking at the right soft furnishing environment with the perfect colour spectrum to match my ever changing toe…so far, we have moved from SHOCKED PALE via ANGRY RED and REALLY F*^#~%*G ANGRY RED to CONSIDERING ALL THINGS PURPLE AND BLUE…and there will be YELLOW, eventually, without a doubt.

No doubt, RED is my favourite colour. I mean, is there any other decent colour? Red is everywhere in my house – and rightly so. When in doubt, do red. Works with clothes and lips and, most certainly, SHOES. Having a bad day? Look at something red. Have a red room, by all means – with a bit of subtle leopard thrown in for that oh so important balance….

About half a year ago, the idea of seriously moving states crept up – and stayed. Running around the country and checking out places filled up pretty much all of January. The most important bits:

  1. Energy levels! As in ‘how good does one feel compared to the bogging down mugginess of a certain place in the Top End’. Cairns definitely better, but one needs to be a snail to fully appreciate the enormous amounts of rain descending…and then there are those Queenslanders…mon dieu.
  1. Mould factor! As in how many hours of one’s life are dedicated to fighting the alien life so relentlessly overtaking everything in the house…and the car…and basically everywhere. Again, Cairns maybe not the best choice…so down the East coast we went for more extensive probing and searching…
  1. Bogan levels! Unless you are 100% dedicated to fishing (swimming with the crocs), drinking (lots, and constantly, and best done while driving) and talking about real estate (‘sold me shed for 3,5 million the other day, mate – booming, BOOMING up here!), it has become increasingly harder to maintain an illusion of ‘nice place’…well, it isn’t any more! Not for me, at least…so certainly time to move on, cat, shoes and all.

And that is when YELLOW crept in…initially, in the shape of a picture of a LEMON YELLOW WALL…yes…and the damage was done.

We have found a place to go to within very easy reach of a beach…most likely within sniffing distance! This place has walls…and one at least needs to be YELLOW.

And that is it, really…big red round woolen carpet still very much loved and will be going with me, but from now on has to share the limelight.

So right now, it’s cardboard boxes, lots of opp shop bags and slightly rising anxiety levels…for all sorts of reasons.

TIME! Never enough time…to do this, that and the other…

Will the cat fit with the new color scheme?

That indeed is rather pressing…as one knows. But it’s looking good…and The Bruno will relocate riding the yellow trolley all the way down to the East Coast in style, no doubt.

And this is it for the month of June…back to those mortifying card board boxes now filling up with massive horns (!) and lamps and THOSE CASSETTE TAPES I CANNOT DEPART FROM…or can I?

Wishing you all a fabulous rest of June – and here is a link to something for us shoe fetishists…Anastasia Radevich …very sculptural and certainly no walking boots…

Until next time with an update on those boxes…
