Currently, we are getting a new roof. Some days more of that than others which creates a bit of added excitement as you never know when someone RIGHT ABOVE YOUR HEAD is enthusiastically ramming in a nail – or eight. I am not aware of any real plan – at least it hasn’t revealed itself so far. So while we never know when and if people are coming, we do know they are coming – sometime soonish. With or without energetic power tools. Saturday and Sunday have been popular. And there is a loooong weekend heading our way…
I am so very aware of this as those were the days I had earmarked for
2. Working away on my shoes…
Needless to say, it didn’t really happen, at least not there and then. The hammering wasn’t quite rhythmic enough to encourage incorporation into some sort of meditation subsequently leading to blissful sleep…and while I wholeheartedly embrace the idea of background SOMETHING when working creatively, usually something as conventional as music or some audio delight will suffice…indeed.
It is the very last day of the month, so I better get on with this blog reporting the latest news in Shoeland. Well, what can I say...Ideal Husband is back in business! As some of you might remember, when writing the last blog I was VERY MUCH looking forward to those new samples…but have a look yourself:
WE LIKE! As they are as comfortable as they are RED… and RED they are.
And then those well-loved sandals:
Those beauties also come in BLACK AS for those of you committed to the very heart of darkness…and with RED straps and a black platform. You get the ‘floating’ with the added height without those painful feet at the end of the day…I should know, been wearing those samples in my role as professional road tester…someone has to do it!
And another favorite…
So there. Over the weekend we will be slowly but surely getting those Husbands up in the store again starting with the sandals. Head to ‘STORE’ and have a look…
Apart from that, we have been EXTREMELY professional in the ‘reading new books’ department – partly due to still getting back to normal energy levels (whatever normal might mean) and the odd unfortunate ‘getting back two steps’ health scenario. Quite testing when one normally (that word again!) loves to sew and read and sew and MAKE and draw and sew…and make. Over the last couple of days, I amused myself with the odd little drawing again…apart from reading A LOT. Must have broken my own record over the last month, and that says something. Discovered some truly delightful new authors I’ve never heard of – Barbara Bauer is only one of them.
Also headed out of my comfort zone and visited Various Weird And Wonderful Worlds of Otherness…Argentine Tango! Kundalini Yoga! Kinesiology! Walking with Jack! Talking to Strangers…:)
All in the name of getting my mojo back to full strength…happy to report it seems to be working. Some trips are on the agenda, and a certain small and delightful island in the Mediterranean is beckoning…
It is a pleasant Thursday night right at the beginning of the Dry Season in the tropics…Blankets at night! I even had a hot water bottle some days ago…but that counts as ‘extreme’ as in extremely cozy!
4 days of potential creative abandon ahead of me – with the added bonus of home renovations, I am sure. Considering the next steps will involve a certain ceiling, I am entitled to a morsel of fear. As in INDOOR ceiling. As in MY BEDROOM WHICH IS INDOORS CEILING.
Even more important to loose myself in doing what I love most…creative mayhem with stretches of intense escapism thrown in…preferable involving some sleep as well. With or without the hammering. Might have to ignore the temporary absence of a ceiling…moving outside for the next days! Pseudo-Asian outdoor living amongst the palm trees…could be worse.
Fan is swirling above my head, some delectable cooking smells are sneaking into my upstairs studio…and I am ready to give you the link to another shoe designer before wishing you all a hopefully drama-free Thursday….wherever you are!
Check out Sophia Webster for some colourful contraptions…candy shop shoes!
Until next time…xxx
And a special HELLO! to my friend Kim who is wrestling with her very own recovery back to full-strength delightful oddness…on the other side of the planet. Sunshine to the UK! x
